Chlorine Dioxide Analyzer CRIUS® 3500

The CRIUS® 3500 Residual Chlorine Dioxide Monitor is used in many applications requiring the measurement of chlorine dioxide concentration for chlorine dioxide monitoring or residual chlorine dioxide dosing control.

The chlorine sensor used by the Residual Chlorine Dioxide Monitor is bufferless and reagentless. It is a membraned amperometric chlorine sensor and it shows remarkable sensitivity and stability.

The CRIUS® 3500 chlorine dioxide analyser is a low cost chlorine dioxide controller that requires less maintenance than its competitors.

The chlorine dioxide sensors work by seperating the electrodes that perform the chlorine dioxide measurement from the sample, by a membrane. This membrane allows the residual chlorine dioxide (ClO2) through the membrane. The ClO2 is reduced at the gold working electrode and the current generated is proportional to the dissolved chlorine dioxide present and the chlorine dioxide analyser gives a reading in chlorine dioxide ppm or mg/l.

This technique is the most advanced method of continous chlorine dioxide measurement and has many benefits to the user including a very stable chlorine dioxide measurement and better chlorine dioxide dosing control.

In addition to chlorine dioxide measurement the chlorine dioxide sensor determines the ClO2 concentration and the analyser can control the ClO2 dosing using a variety of control algorithms including PID control, thereby making the CRIUS® 3500 a very cost effective residual chlorine dioxide controller.

The CRIUS® 3500 Chlorine Dioxide Monitor is equipped with process control options, datalogging, relay outputs, serial comms, (TCP, Ethernet, ModBus are available now with Profibus available soon). Remote Access of the chlorine dioxide monitor (including remote access to all control options) is available via the internet, and via a LAN. According to the EU Directive 98/83/EC, the operators of waterworks must ensure that the levels of harmful chlorite (ClO) in drinking water remain below the specified limit of 0.2 mg/l. The monitoring of Chlorite at the same time as Chlorine Dioxide is also a European requirement.

In most situations the ClO2 Monitor should be able to control the dosing of ClO2 by adjusting flow rates, pump rates, or valve positions automatically to maintain the residual chlorine dioxide setpoint. Chlorine dioxide analyzers are often used to monitor the residual ClO2 in difficult ‘dirty’ applications such as in hospitals or the food industry. In these cases, in order to maintain an appropriate Chlorine Dioxide residual it is necessary to automatically clean the sensor using an autoflush.
